Centennial is recruiting for an exciting Surveying position, based in our Western Region. The Lithgow offices and operational sites are conveniently located between the stunning Blue Mountains area and the thriving regional city of Bathurst, both of which offer exciting lifestyle opportunities as well as excellent schooling and tertiary education facilities. 

 

Reporting to the appointed Mine Surveyor, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. Strongly focused on efficiency and reliability, you will assist the appointed Mine Surveyor undertake underground and surface surveys, maintain mine plans using AutoCAD software and be part of the overall survey production process.

 

You will be a proud advocate for safety. Some experience in underground mine surveying would be advantageous but if you are currently performing a survey role and are interested in working in the underground coal industry, this could be the opportunity for you. 

 

 

Main Duties

  • Assist in mine traversing and control networks 
  • Develop your understanding of survey in underground coal mining
  • Provide timely and accurate survey support for daily mining activities 
  • Ensure routine monitoring and production surveys tasks are carried out
  • Assist in the implementation of survey systems and procedures
  • Perform quality control checks on work completed
  • Complete drafting and updating of mine plans

 

 

Experience

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Surveying (or similar) highly regarded 
  • Demonstrated numerical accuracy and analytical skills
  • Strong computer literacy skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of operation
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Survey Regulations
  • Highly effective planning, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Use of mining CAD programs and Total Stations and GPS
  • Proactive and self-motivated attitude
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Current Drivers Licence

 

 

Candidates without formal qualifications that can demonstrate experience in a similar role may be considered.
