Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your role will be responsible for


•    Acting as the Manager of Mechanical Engineering as required under WHS Regulations.
•    Working as an integral member of the mine management team to ensure all mechanical engineering activities align with the operational goals of the mine.
•    Providing high-level technical expertise and delivering safe, cost-effective and timely mechanical engineering solutions.
•    Ensuring trades personnel and coordinators are equipped and supported to meet production and maintenance requirements safely and effectively.
•    Managing statutory compliance within the mechanical engineering function.
•    Overseeing mechanical engineering requirements for the installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, testing and decommissioning of machines and equipment.
•    Developing, reviewing and improving Standards of Engineering Practice.
•    Conducting inspections and audits, including assessment of Mechanical Engineering Control Plans and non-conformance management.
•    Managing budget requirements, lifecycle planning and cost control for mechanical engineering activities.
•    Coordinating risk assessments, contractor management and compliance with business systems.
•    Using Pulse work orders to plan and execute maintenance and inspection programs.
•    Collaborating with other engineering leaders to plan equipment availability, relocation and installation work.
•    Leading KPI reviews and developing targeted improvement plans for equipment performance.

Suitable candidates will have


•    Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering (Advanced Diploma).
•    Manager of Mechanical Engineering Certificate of Competence.
•    Current Practising Certificate – Manager of Mechanical Engineering.
•    Demonstrated risk management competence.
•    Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership role within an underground coal mining environment.
•    Strong computer literacy.
•    Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
•    Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop teams.
•    A strong commitment to safety and operational performance.
