As well as the place change mining and pillar extraction mining that the mine is already famous for - The role offers growth with the opportunity to gain Short Wall mining experience, as the mine will expand into this new field in 2027 

 

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, your responsibilities will include


•    Mapping and Assessment of underground roadways
•    Design and implementation of strata control measures
•    Design and monitoring of extraction processes
•    Developing hazard plans
•    Administering Risk Management processes including fatal risk standards
•    Management and Interpretation of surface to seam and inseam drilling
•    Geological / Strata monitoring data collection, database management and data analysis
•    Reporting non-compliances and developing remediation plans
•    Providing suitable engagement and advice to support mining activities and work management systems and the mine schedule.

Suitable candidates will have


•    Tertiary Qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering
•    A minimum of 3 years previous experience working across Geology / Geotechnical investigation, interpretation, design, and analysis
•    Sound computer literacy skills and proficiency in AutoCAD and geological / geotechnical databases
•    Excellent work ethic and attendance record
•    Commitment to site safety, operational practices, and mine production targets
•    Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
•    Well Developed leadership in Risk Management processes including fatal risk standards.
•    Suitable experience in mine mapping and geological activities including surface seam and underground in seal drilling.
•    Operational experience suitable to enable the position to dovetail into mining activities and work management systems and the mine schedule
•    Experience in short wall mining and extraction mining
