Mine Electrical Superintendent - Newstan

We are currently looking for a Mine Electrical Superintendent at our Lake Macquarie based site – Newstan. Newstan is currently undergoing care and maintenance.

Just a short distance from Newcastle, this role offers an Electrical Engineering professional the chance to work in the mining industry without having to travel far for work.

Reporting to the Group Engineering Manager, your role will be responsible for:

•    Managing the life cycle of Electrical Assets associated with site
•    Overseeing site-wide Electrical statutory compliance and standards
•    Acting as the key contact for electrical contracts, issues, and engineering strategies across the site
•    Maintaining forecasts for capital and operating expenses and directly manage the Electrical Engineering budget
•    Assisting the management of a range of Electrical Engineering functions across multiple underground coal sites 
•    Coaching, mentoring, and supporting electrical professionals to foster technical development and ensure compliance
•    Driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and efficiency
•    Assist leave coverage across the group where required

Suitable candidates will have

•    Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering
•    NSW Electrical Engineering Manager Certificate of Competency / Mutual Recognition (or higher)
•    NSW Electrical Engineering Manager Practising Certificate
•    Compliance with Learning and Completion Hours as required under the Maintenance of Competence scheme
•    Extensive experience managing electrical engineering functions in underground coal mining
•    Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
•    A commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence
