About the Role
Centennial are currently recruiting for an experienced General Manager – Health, Safety, & Training to lead and enhance safety and training performance across the business.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving company-wide Safety and Training strategy, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, and embedding continuous improvement systems across operations. You will place a critical role in shaping Centennial’s safety culture and aligning long-term strategy with business sustainability objectives.
The governing objective of this role is to provide strategic direction, governance and oversight to Safety and Training systems, ensuring compliance, performance improvement and alignment with company-wide goals.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager Safety, Production & Engineering, you will be responsible for:
• Providing strategic leadership to improve Safety and Training performance across the company
• Developing and monitoring legislative compliance indicators for Safety and Training systems
• Designing, implementing and maintaining systems that enable continuous improvement in Safety and Training strategy
• Maintaining alignment with industry best practices in Safety and Training
• Providing oversight and management of company’s fatal risk program
• Developing and implementing medium and long-term Safety and Training strategies
• Leading the design and execution of company-wide Safety and Training improvement and compliance programs
• Maintaining monitoring, auditing and reporting systems to ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety regulatory requirements
• Developing, reviewing and implementing company-wide Safety and Training standards
• Driving compliance with Workplace Safety and Training regulatory frameworks
• Monitoring and reporting on external Safety Training programs across the business
• Promoting strong awareness and engagement in Safety and Training matters across all levels of the organisation
• Providing strategic input into the development and execution of the company’s 5-year strategic plan aligned with sustainability objectives
• Engaging with key stakeholders including Group Managers, General Managers and Mine Managers to deliver strategic outcomes
Suitable candidates will have
• Degree qualifications with post-graduate management studies or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the mining industry, or at least 5 years in a senior leadership position
• Strong understanding of relevant Workplace Health and Safety legislation, codes and legal frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic Safety and Training initiatives at a company-wide level
• Proven experience in compliance, auditing and performance monitoring systems
• Highly developed leadership and management capability, with the ability to influence culture and drive organisational change
• Strong commercial and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to align Safety and Training outcomes with business objectives
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across all levels of the organisation
• Proven ability to deliver continuous improvement initiatives and embed sustainable systems and practices
