Category Manager - Fassifern

About the Role

Centennial are currently recruiting for an experienced Category Manager to complement the corporate Contracts and Procurement team, based in our Fassifern Office. 

The governing objective of this role is to negotiate and deliver better value from Centennial’s suppliers through active category management, and tactful strategic sourcing. This role will touch multimillion-dollar supply categories that are crucial to Centennial.

Reporting to the Group Manager Contracts and Procurement, the role is responsible for:

•    Conduct in-depth analysis of the mining expenditure profile and understand associated expenditure drivers
•    Understand internal business needs, and apply best practice category management plans, procedures, processes and technology to implement supply category strategies to serve these needs while maximising economic value
•    Develop, broker and execute  supplier sourcing strategies  taking into account risk, value, and reputation
•    Generate and drive supplier strategic sourcing and continuous improvement initiatives that deliver cost savings
•    Conduct regular supply market research to assess market structure and dynamics, supplier strategies, pricing structures, opportunities and threats 
•    Develop tender documentation and negotiate, evaluate and manage tendering functions in consultation with key internal stakeholders
•    Compile, negotiate, execute and manage supplier contracts
•    Manage supplier relationships, evaluate and manage supplier performance and drive supplier innovation

Suitable candidates will have

•    Relevant tertiary education
•    Substantial experience and competency in a similar Category Manager role, including end-to-end procurement processes
•    High level of numerical and analytical capability to drive supplier management and value enhancement
•    Well-developed understanding of the Procurement commercial drivers
•    Robust commercial negotiation and tactical skills and experience at all levels, both internally and externally, within multi-million dollar categories
•    Accurate analytical skills and well-developed strategic thinking
•    Strong stakeholder management skills
•    Competent written and oral communication skills
•    Demonstrated dispute resolution experience and competency
•    Pulse ERP System experience is desirable
•    Previous experience in the mining industry is desirable
